Canadian – US $ Conversion

Everyone knows that the only place you can travel to that takes Canadian $ at par is Canada.  Outside of Canada we’ve got to convert the Loonie to US$ primarily and occasionally the Euro.  Given Canadian savings and pensions are paid in Canadian $ while our time in the sun is paid in US $;  dollar conversion can dictate how much time and money we get to enjoy while at our favorite southern retreat.

This LifePast50 page will attempt to keep our members up to date on the ups and downs of the Loonie and its conversion rate to the US $.  Recall that in early 2008 the Cdn $ actually hit $1.10 US and then fell like a rock, briefly, to under 80 cents.  Obviously we should have bought up US $ at the peak.  But how do you know the best time to convert?  The simple answer is that you can’t time currency tops and bottoms but, we can take the advice of some smart people whose guess is certainly better than most.  We’ll be posting currency exchange news in the "Financing your lifepast50" posts category.  And, of course, if our members want to wade in with their news and opinons, we welcome the input.
