Heritage
Summary: Value Rating = B-
Heritage (Auberge et Club de Golf) is just an average course with a mix of some nice holes and some bad holes. There are some open and tight fairways along the course. There are many elevation changes. It is in a picturesque area of Quebec north of Montebello so there are some nice views, especially in the fall when the leaves start to turn.
There are some severe dog legs requiring you to hit a decent drive to have any shot at seeing the green on your 2nd shot. It helps if you have played the course before to take some of the guess work out of what distance to hit off the tee on some holes.
Aspects of the layout are nice but other parts of the course seem as if the holes were just fit into the available space – hence the design of some of the dog leg holes. I have only played Heritage in the fall and the course at this time of year has always been in good shape.
The course is located north of Montebello, Quebec. It is about an hours drive from Ottawa. If you are heading up to the Mont Tremblant area in Quebec, you can easily stop at Heritage to play a round during your trip.
The price is good – with cart, we have paid in the $48 range – so the course does offer value. Heritage isn’t one of my favourites so I rate it lower than other golfers might. Check out their website at www.golfheritage.com.

Some Details:
I have to admit that Heritage isn’t my first choice of a course to play. I just don’t get excited about playing this course mostly because some of the holes appear to have been fit into the available space, especially some of the dog leg holes. Holes #1, #2, #10, and #12 could be improved.
There are some challenges when you play Heritage. You need to hit your ball straight, especially along the less open wooded holes. Almost any shot into the forest is unplayable.
The par 3’s are good and required good tee shots. I like hole #6, #13 and #16 – they seem to suit my eye nicely.
I’ve played Heritage 5 times with an average score of 88.
My golf buddies have mixed opinions of Heritage so I suggest you play the course to form your own opinion. The website does provide some good information regarding distances on the dog legs – this will help you select the right club off the tee.
You can walk the course despite the ups and downs. The distances between holes isn't significant.
The staff is friendly and we have enjoyed breakfast in the log clubhouse.
My Evaluation Details:
Scenery – nice views, especially in the fall.
Mix of holes – Just average on this front.
Consistency and condition – The course was nicely maintained and in good shape.
Character – overall the course just average on this front, improvement could be made to fix up some of the holes
Golf Challenge – the course does offer some challenges…..
- tee shots – keep your tee shot straight
- fairway shots – mostly flat lies everywhere, even in the rough.
- pin placements – decent size greens so many pin placement choices.
- putting – the greens are average speed.
- greens – the condition of the greens is good and the greens are mostly flat with some slope to them.
- a chance to recover – errant shots into the forest are trouble and some deep gully areas exist on the side of the course where you won’t be able to play out of.
Other Observations
The practice green gives you a very good feel for what the greens are like on the course.
