Who We Are

We are two guys who decided to step out into the on-line world and discuss our Life Past 50 issues, concerns and ideas.  After lots of conversations about life’s transitions, we decided to create this web presence to carry on the discussion and share both information and ideas.

Tony Almonte – here’s a guy that spent his professional life building businesses and constantly dealing with deadlines, budgets and problems of all sorts.  Personally and professionally there always existed goals and objectives.  Now I’m in no man’s land – no real goals and only mundane problems to solve.  Its not that I don’t enjoy retirement, I do!  However, I believe you have to have something meaningful to do when you get up in the morning.  I hope LifePast50 gives provides that meaning.  Reach me at tony@lifepast50.ca.

Lane Smith – I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, am married and the father of four young adults.  I’ve worked for and with my buddy Tony (see above) for almost 25 years.  I’ve recently transitioned from your typical 9 to 5 job in the IT/software world to working for myself as a consultant.  I’ve been a Computer Programmer, computer/network/facility manager, a Quality Manager, an Account Executive, and a Proposal Manager and Writer.  I’m looking forward to my Life Past 50 and want a vehicle to express my feelings about the changes and challenges that confront me, and maybe you, as I move forward with my Life Past 50.  I also like to golf and will write golf related posts and pages, including golf course reviews, from the perspective of an average recreational golfer looking for good golf value – check the pages and posts out.  Reach me at lane@lifepast50.ca
